Terms and Conditions

GYM HOURS

The Gym is open everyday except Good Friday, Christmas Day and New Years Day. Opening hours are:

Monday – Thursday 5.30am – 9.00pm
Friday 5.30am – 8.00pm
Saturday – Sunday 8.00am – 6.00pm

Gym hours will vary on Public Holidays and over the Christmas and Easter period. Keep an eye on Update and signs around the gym displaying different hours over those times.

CHECKING IN

When you arrive, please present your membership key tag to reception with each visit. This is the first point of contact we have with you and we want to get to know you.

MEMBERSHIP KEYTAGS

When you join you will receive a Membership keytag, which will be issued from reception. Please allow 3-7 days after joining for it to be prepared. In the interim, just bring along your membership receipt for access to the Club.

LOST MEMBERSHIP KEYTAGS

Sometimes tags become lost or stolen. If this happens to you, please ask reception for a new tag. As these tags are expensive, a replacement fee of $5 will apply. To prevent this from happening, please make sure that you collect your keytag from reception at the end of each visit

LOCKERS

Lockers are provided in the change rooms for your use. All you need to do is bring your own padlock or combination lock on a daily basis as required. Any locks left on lockers overnight will be removed and destroyed by management.

AGE LIMIT

Only people aged 12 and over are allowed to use Geelong’s Gym facilities, other than Kids Fitness Classes and school holiday programs. Membership is available to 12-17 year olds with written consent from a parent or guardian. Please note that the minimum age for boxing classes, other than school groups, is 18 years of age.

AEROBICS

For your convenience and safety, class numbers are restricted to certain levels. On occasion large numbers may limit participation in some classes. To avoid disappointment, we suggest that you arrive at least 5-10 minutes prior to class commencement. A few procedures are necessary to ensure comfort to all participants:

  • In order to eliminate the risk of minor injuries, please do not enter the class after it has commenced. The warm up track is an important part of avoiding injuries and should not be missed.
  • You must bring in a workout towel to every class.
  • You must remain in class for the cool down exercises – again, this is an important part of avoiding injuries.

Management reserves the right to alter class type, class instructor or class frequency at any time.

PERSONAL TRAINING

  • Punctuality is important. If you arrive 5 minutes late, that 5 minutes is lost from the session.
  • It is recommended that all clients arrive 15-20 minutes prior to their PT session for a sufficient warm up.
  • All cancellations are to be made with 24 hours notice. If not, the session may be lost and the full amount will be deducted.

STEAM ROOM

The Steam area closes 10 minutes prior to the club closing time (steam will be turned off) – this allows time for you to change and leave the club before closing.

GYMNASIUM

All members are requested to:

  • Bring a towel to each workout
  • Place a towel on all benches and mats during use and wipe down computerized equipment after use.
  • Replace weights on racks after use
  • Show courtesy to fellow members and share equipment
  • Please report any maintenance problems to staff. Do not attempt to correct any difficulty yourself.

PREGNANCY

If you are currently pregnant, or fall pregnant in the term of your membership, the following information will be required:

  • Clearance from your Medical practitioner
  • To fill out and sign a medical screening form at reception prior to any exercise
  • To contact an instructor for more information on pregnancy and exercise

SMOKING

Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the club at any time.

JOINING FEE

The joining fee is a non-refundable payment at the commencement of your membership. This is a once only payment that you will not need to pay again unless your membership is allowed to expire.

RENEWALS

In order to receive this reduced rate, subscriptions must be paid before or by the actual membership expiry date. Members who allow their membership to lapse will not be eligible for the renewal rate. Current rates apply at the time of renewal. Your new Membership term will be calculated from the previous Membership expiry date, not the payment date.

TIME PAYMENTS

In certain circumstances, you may be allowed to pay off your membership in smaller amounts. Full payment is required within 30-40 days.

SUSPENSION TIME – SUSPENSIONS WILL NOT BE BACKDATED AND MUST BE DONE IN PERSON AT RECEPTION

Direct Debit Memberships

  • You may suspend you membership for a minimum period of two weeks. Longer periods must be taken in fortnightly blocks (such as, four weeks, six weeks etc).
  • Your suspension must have an end date; we are unable to do unlimited suspensions. Should you need to extend your suspension, simply give reception a call.
  • There is a cost of $5 per fortnight, which your direct debit payment will be reduced to.
  • Whilst your membership is suspended, you are not permitted to use any of the clubs facilities, unless you choose to pay a casual entry fee.

Term Memberships

  • 12 month term memberships include up to three (3) months complimentary suspension time. Additional suspension time is available at a fee of $10 per month.
  • Suspension time is available on memberships of less than 12 months at a fee of $10 per month.
  • All suspensions must be for a minimum of 14 Days on Term Memberships.
  • Suspension time will begin on the date you request it at reception. Whilst your membership is suspended, you are not permitted to use any of the clubs facilities, unless you choose to pay a casual entry fee.

Memberships can only be suspended if prior notice is given and will only be backdated if a medical certificate is provided

TRANSFERS

Term Memberships are transferable. It is the responsibility of the member to negotiate the sale of their membership and there is a transfer fee of $40 for members and $75 for non-members.

CANCELLATION

Cancellation of your membership must be done in person with two weeks notice.

  • Upon the completion of a 12 Month Package, debits will continue to be deducted on a fortnightly basis, unless 2 weeks notice of cancellation is provided. After the 12 month term, the member may cancel at any time with 2 weeks notice.
  • If cancellation is required prior to the agreed minimum term, there will be a cancellation fee of 4 times the member’s current weekly rate. A maximum cancellation fee of $150 applies on all memberships.
  • A member may upgrade their membership at any time to take advantage of additional Personal Training sessions.
  • A member may downgrade their membership with a minimum notice of 2 weeks. A one off charge will apply – $40 to scale back one level; $65 to scale back 2 or more levels.

LOST PROPERTY

Clothing or towels that are left behind are placed in the lost property baskets at reception. After a period of one month, unclaimed articles are given to a worthy charity. Smaller items, such as jewelry and ipods, are kept at reception.

DRESS CODE

Whilst on the club premises, we ask that you be neatly attired in clean gear, such as t-shirts, shorts, tracksuits, leotards, tights etc. Appropriate footwear is compulsory in all non-wet areas. Thongs and work boots are not considered to be appropriate footwear.

PERSONAL LIABILITY

Geelong’s Gym directors and employees are in no way under any liability for property belonging to members and guests or for death, disability or injury of members and guests whilst on the club premises.

COOLING OFF PERIOD

Victorian Government legislation states that a five day cooling off period is to be provided, during which a full refund of membership can be claimed. Refunds are happily provided during that time. After this period, refunds will not be given, unless required under legislation.

ACCESS

Management reserves the right to restrict access to any part of the club whether for repair, upkeep and maintenance or restricted use. Management will always retain total control over the standards, policies and operations of the club. This will also include the power to set the hours of operation, membership fees and all prices and charges, to establish types of membership; to make and enforce all rules and regulations governing the affairs and conduct of the club, and its members in connection with the club, to determine matters of discipline, decorum and harmony, including the right to censure, suspend or expel a member at the discretion of management.

CLOSING TIME

The club premises close at specific times. We ask that all members and guests stop using the equipment 15 minutes prior to closing time if showering and 5 minutes prior to closing time if not showering, to allow time for stretching.

GUESTS

You may bring a guest with you who has not used the Gym before for free once. For any subsequent visits normal casual rates will apply. Guests must be over 18 years of age; 12-17 year old guests are allowed if accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times when using the Gym.

RULE INTERPRETATION AND AMENDMENT

Questions concerning the interpretation of the rules and regulations, documented in these Terms and Conditions, should be directed to Management. These rules and regulations may be changed/amended by Management at its sole discretion at any time. Management’s decision will be final.

PRIVACY

Your contact details will never be passed onto another organization or third party. From time to time, we may use them for internal marketing campaigns and to send you educational information which we think you may find beneficial.

Geelong's Gym is perfect for us…

“Our team has been using Geelong’s Gym in pre-season training, especially as our training facilities were under renovations, and we have been continuing to utilize the Geelong's Gym facility with the junior players. We have found it to be in the perfect position for us, with a very welcoming environment where our players are able to train without being disturbed. It has proven to be a good alternative to our training facilities, somewhere fresh where we don’t feel like we’re at work. Geelong’s Gym is perfect for us because it has all the facilities we need, with an excellent amount of space, where we’re treated as regular members of the public.”
