On my way to the gym early this morning, as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, I realised that the biggest part of your workout is actually getting to the gym. Yes, you did read that correctly.
How many excuses do we generate in an attempt to avoid expending any effort at the gym? I can think of at least ten off the top of my head, starting with “I’m too tired”, “I’m too sore”, or “I’ve got work in a few hours”. I’m sure we’re all guilty of using these excuses from time to time.
But, once we actually walk through the door into the gym we’re already 90% of the way there. We all know that once we’re there we will work out!
So how about looking at it this way? Don’t focus on the energy you’re going to have to put into your workout when you get to the gym, after all it’s really only going to take 10% effort to have a great workout. Just get in your car or jump on your bike and by the time you step through the doors at the gym you’re already 90% of the way through your workout!
Now that’s great logic and motivation!
