I first met John in April 2008 when he was 15-20kg heavier then his ideal weight. For many years he has been a regular season cricketer with his local cricket club but was having increasing troubles with his right shoulder, which he felt might soon stop him from playing cricket. Through a specifically structured program, John, a very determined and hard working participant, was able to lose 7kg in his first 6 weeks of training with me. We started off at two, one-hour sessions a week, then progressively built up to three sessions a week. John showed immediate results in muscular strength, endurance and flexibility and also reported increasing amounts of energy and felt much healthier/fitter. We were able to strengthen his right shoulder through some rehab exercises, which has not only allowed him to continue playing cricket but has also improved his bowling technique and strength.

“Junita weighed 96kg and was struggling to reach the fitness required to pass a beep test in 8 weeks time. A level of 6.2 was the minimum requirement for the Australian Federal Police and Junita could barely make 3.2.

When Junita realised the difficulty of the task ahead she sank to a very low point in her life. I knew this was going to be a tough 8 weeks for her but I kept her positive and began training her 4 sometimes 5 times a week. I taught her how to run efficiently, build her overall strength and gave her the confidence she needed to pass the beep test. After 7 weeks of intense training and determination on her side Junita passed her beep test at a reduced weight of 73 kg. She now regularly maintains great health and works for the AFP based in Canberra.”

Annie Cramp

Annie Cramp

Ann understands that not everyone loves sport like she does and that sometimes they need a helping hand to get started, to stay on track or simply to be waiting for them to turn up on a cold morning. Choosing to exercise is one thing but seeing it through is another. With 16 years of experience, Ann is here to help, guide and assist you to achieve your goals.

She thrives on interacting with all people… including, first-timers embarking on health and fitness goals, mother and baby groups, kids that want to stay fit, junior sporting groups and those striving to excel in their chosen sport.

Annie Cramp

Ann also works with community groups as a motivational speaker in the areas of healthy eating and exercise. Ann lives and loves helping people achieve their health and fitness goals!

“I started training with Rosie 15 years ago.  She was a little lost around how to keep some level of activity and her weight under control, given that she had bad knees and an arthritic foot. Gardening was her passion and “going to the gym” seemed laborious and not worth the effort.  “When will I ever enjoy this?” was the question she asked of me most of all. So slowly, gently, with great humour and friendship to make the session as enjoyable as possible, we started training 3 times a week.  Little body niggles presented but we addressed each and every one of them, working along side the health professionals. We focused on strong, safe exercise. Quickly, Rosie’s gardening reports started speaking of more strength, more stamina, less stiffness. Even though this was never the spoken goal, the outcomes were phenomenal.  So whilst she still doesn’t really ‘like’ gym work, Rosie is committed to her weekly sessions and finds she is so much more able-bodied with regular exercise on her side and is motivated to continue with a stronger, healthier and happier lifetime of gardening.”

“I train with A Cramp – and couldn’t do it any other way”

From couch potato to marathon that’s the difference when using a trainer like Annie.
I have had a regular 2 sessions a week with Ann for over 5 years now and have never suffered an injury, while at the same time achieving great results.

Knowledgeable, creative, disciplined, high achiever, supportive, encouraging, leader, Ann Cramp!

Ann Cramp.  She’s just the best.  I can now run 20km for fun and have no boundaries.

I truly would never have achieved the level of fitness I enjoy without Ann Cramp.

Wow in just 30mins I feel amazingly energetic and ready to take on the world!!!

What an unbelievable woman!

Marie Limb

Four years ago I realised that I needed to make some changes in my life. I had been a member at Re-Creation for a number of years but a serial non-attender and I needed a strategy to make regular exercise a part of my routine.

Enter, Annie Cramp. I chose Annie from the list of trainers for her obvious expertise and extensive experience in health and personal training. She has a “don’t talk about it, just do it” attitude and this carries through each training session.

Annie tailors each session to keep it interesting and balanced and sets challenges to help you reach your personal goals. Even when injured I was able to continue an adjusted training regimen that kept me fit and aided a full recovery. She always gets the best out of you no matter what headspace you might be in at the time.

She really takes the time to get to know her clients and their underlying motivations. Most importantly Annie is down to earth, warm and caring and that’s why I can’t live without her.

I’d recommend Annie to anyone who is serious about making a shift towards a healthier and happier life.

I am a full-time Personal Trainer who has been involved in fitness for over 20 years.  After representing Geelong in soccer, I found my passion in bodybuilding and have been doing resistance training for the last 15 years.  Having training with and alongside precious Australian and Victorian body building champions, I have gained invaluable knowledge on programs, exercises, diets and philosophies on how to achieve great results, particularly in the areas of muscle gain, weight loss and general fitness.  I am very adaptable to the needs of each individual and make a point of varying my client’s workouts, so they don’t become bored and stale in their progress.

Your goals are my goals; so let me fast track them today.

Marcus Smith

Marcus Smith

Marcus may have one of the most common last names in Australia but there is nothing common about this trainer.  Marcus loves to challenge and motivate his clients while keeping things fun at the same time. He likes working with people of all ages and fitness levels and will help you to relax and enjoy your workout, even though you’ll be working harder than you have ever worked. Marcus uses a combination of cardio, strength training, muscle toning, boxing, sport specific and weight loss techniques to help his clients achieve their goals.

Possessing a wonderfully charismatic and charming personality, he balances just the right combination of encouragement, humour and strength of will, so you get the most out of your sessions and start seeing results fast.  When those weights get too heavy, Marcus is right there beside you, ready to catch them, so you can be secure in the knowledge that you won’t suffer any injuries.  A very familiar face around the Club, he keeps track of your workouts, even when you’re not having a session with him.  There’s no slacking off with this one!

As a very passionate and enthusiastic trainer, Marcus also enjoys training groups with weight circuit training and cardio.

“Kristy came to me after being a member of the gym for about 6 months. Before this, she was not getting the results she wanted and had lost all motivation to train. Her goal was to reach 60kg in time for her wedding which was in about another 6 months time and to improve her general well being. Kristy was not sleeping well and lacked energy in her everyday life. While she had lost 3kg, she had hit a plateau and couldn’t lose any more on her own. She still had 12kg to go. By monitoring her eating habits through weekly food diaries and taking her through a variety of focused training sessions, I was able to get Kristy losing weight again and feeling motivated and driven to achieve. She was now sleeping better and her energy levels had gone through the roof. Working with me 3 times a week Kristy lost those unwanted kilos for her big day and her new health conscious habits mean she now maintains her weight by herself while living in Scotland. Not only that, she looks and feels fantastic.”

Do you get frustrated that you’re not achieving your results?  Do you have a goal in mind but it’s taking too long to reach it?  If you answered yes to either of those questions, then it’s time you gave me a call and together we can fast track you to reaching your destination.  I promise you’ll work hard, but I also promise that you’ll have fun.

Mel Jones

I have been part of Geelong's Gym since 1992 and in the industry since 1990. In this time I have been involved in many roles: Group Class Instructor, Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer, all of which I have thoroughly enjoyed.  I have a Certificate IV in Fitness and am a qualified Group Class Instructor for Les Mills Body Pump, Body Balance, Body Step, Spin (Johnny G) and Freestyle.

On a more personal note, during this time I got married and had two children. My family is my life source but they also understand how important keeping fit and healthy is to me.

Mel Jones

Exercise is so important for so many reasons whether it be for strength, flexibility, health, stamina, weight loss or just time out to clear your mind.

If you need help to achieve your goals, stay committed, need to refresh your gym program, or you’re just in need of a new direction for your goals, or like I know mine have from time to time, maybe your goals have changed, then you need to give me a call so we can work on those things together.

I do believe in lifestyle change. But what that means to me is small adjustments that are easy to achieve that bring long-term results. Because we all know that there is nothing worse than putting weight on after working so hard to lose it.

Exercise should be fun; it is for me, so let me help you love it too.

“Vicki came to me wanting to lose some weight, but basically to feel better about herself.  I met her each week for a one hour workout, starting easily but hard enough for her to be out of her comfort zone.  She hadn’t done anything like this before so she was quite nervous and unsure what would happen.  She was very polite, thanking me for every increase in weight, extra set and harder level on the cardio machines.  With her paying attention to her diet by adding more raw food, leaner meats and increasing her water intake, in the first month she lost 5 kilos and 9cm from around her waist.  She felt fantastic and three months down the track she can now run 5km without stopping and can run her very steep 100 metre driveway ten times!  I still see Vicki and she has maintained her weight and fitness over the holidays with the help of a few tasks set for her.  She still thanks me for the increase of weight, sets and cardio.”

Question: Who should you take on a desert island if you could take only one person?  Your partner, your best friend or your personal trainer?
Answer: Your personal trainer because you can swear at them and get away with it.

It’s okay Vicki, you can let it out!

Elise Bishop

Hello. My name is Elise Bishop. I have had a weight problem for most of my life. At the age of 4, my mother took me to a dietitian with my weight being 32kgs. I did lose quite a bit of weight in that time but seemed to find it again as I got older. I’ve tried multiple solutions including other dietitians and fad shake replacement diets, none of which would work in the long run as I was, and still am, one who likes her food (only now it’s in moderation, instead of impulsive eating!!!).

Of course, by the age of 22 I was over the fad shake diets and dietitians, so I went to my local GP and she referred me to a specialist who dealt with severely obese people.

I was debating whether to have Lap-Band surgery. This is a band with a bladder on the inside, which can be blown up or deflated slightly by injecting saline. It’s placed around the stomach and condenses the amount of food and drink you consume.

Elise Bishop After

In the end I decided to have it done, although it is and always will be a lifetime commitment, it has been the best investment so far. I would recommend this procedure to anyone with a severe weight problem. It still takes a lot of work and energy, but is an easy way to start loosing those kilos.

In conjunction with the surgery, I started training regularly with Nathan at Geelong's Gym and now I’m in the best shape I’ve probably ever been in. Nathan was a fantastic support to me and kept me motivated.

I have currently lost 35 kilos in 17 months, going from 103.6kgs to now being 68.9 kilos.

Geelong's Gym is perfect for us…

“Our team has been using Geelong’s Gym in pre-season training, especially as our training facilities were under renovations, and we have been continuing to utilize the Geelong's Gym facility with the junior players. We have found it to be in the perfect position for us, with a very welcoming environment where our players are able to train without being disturbed. It has proven to be a good alternative to our training facilities, somewhere fresh where we don’t feel like we’re at work. Geelong’s Gym is perfect for us because it has all the facilities we need, with an excellent amount of space, where we’re treated as regular members of the public.”
