I have been training at Geelong’s Gym some 8 years now. Throughout that time I have found the staff to be very helpful, knowledgeable and professional and they always greet me with a smile and say “G’day Nath”. As I am constantly travelling between Melbourne and Geelong with basketball, the extensive opening hours help me fit in my training with the times that suit me. Because of the specific training requirements with my sport, Geelong’s Gym is perfect for me because of its wide range of equipment, including the Vibrogym which I use regularly for recovery. I think it’s a great place to train and a friendly and enjoyable environment to work out in!

I’m not a sporty person but, as a result of my inactive lifestyle, was becoming increasingly unhappy with my weight and the clothes I could buy. Before joining Geelong’s Gym I had tried different sports but never enjoyed them. Finally I listened to my Mum & gave the gym a go. To my surprise I loved the classes and soon I was doing four classes a week. Gradually the Georgia Claridgeweight dropped off, I had more energy at work and started taking long walks just for fun! Thanks to the great classes and the support I received at Geelong’s Gym, I have turned my health and my lifestyle around. Best of all….at my wedding recently I wore a gorgeous wedding dress in size 10! Everyone said I looked beautiful but most importantly I felt beautiful. Thanks.

Greg

Greg was determined to lose weight. He had tried every diet and weight loss program there was without long term success, so he decided to undergo Laparoscopic Band surgery. The lap band would help to manage Greg’s appetite but he knew that to lose it he’d have to move it!

“It took a month of hiding on the treadmill in the back corner to realise that no-one was looking at me…that’s the difference with Geelong’s Gym, I feel comfortable there, it’s full of friendly faces.”

The team at Geelong’s Gym provided expertise and encouragement to progress Greg from the treadmill to classes and personal training sessions. Greg lost 60kg in his first year! That’s an incredible result when the average weight loss from a lap band is 27kgs! When asked about his weight loss success, Greg says with a smile;

“It’s thanks to Geelong’s Gym, they’re good guys, I have a lot of time for them but don’t tell them I said that!”

Greg ran the Sydney City to Surf, exactly one year to the day after joining the gym – that’s how far he’s come! Congratulations Greg!

At 64 years of age, I am now back to the weight I was 24 years ago when I ran two marathons. I have lost more than 10 kilos in the last six months, through a combination of regular workouts at Geelong’s Gym, as well as that other important exercise: pushing away from the table before I eat that extra food that I don’t need. I now have increased energy levels and am feeling great. The early-morning workouts at Geelong’s Gym have made all the difference to my health and fitness.

Our team has been using Geelong’s Gym in pre-season training, especially as our training facilities were under renovations, and we have been continuing to utilize the Geelong’s Gym facility with the junior players. We have found it to be in the perfect position for us, with a very welcoming environment where our players are able to train without being disturbed. It has proven to be a good alternative to our training facilities, somewhere fresh where we don’t feel like we’re at work. Geelong’s Gym is perfect for us because it has all the facilities we need, with an excellent amount of space, where we’re treated as regular members of the public.
